PART ONE: The Early Years. “First, We Have To Learn To Play”

Meet the glam cabaret band, Magic Tramps. When the New York Dolls opened for them at Mercer Arts Center in 1972, no one would have anticipated such a cultural revolution in the City. Legions of New York teenagers, victims of the disastrous economy, bored to death and with very limited music knowledge, started bands. The City was in shambles, the music was its reflection. Welcome to the Coventry, CBGB, Club 82 and Max’s Kansas City!
This is the story of when it all started in New York City and how a few young kids changed the world.
